How do I move my ChatGPT or Claude history to a local AI?
Export your history from ChatGPT or Claude as the official archive they both provide, then import that file into a local AI that parses it on your machine — the good ones never ask for your account login, because a downloaded export needs no connection to read.
The safe pattern has a hard rule: no credential custody. You should never hand a "connect your ChatGPT account" button your login — that is a standing key to your whole history in someone else’s hands. Instead you request the export yourself (ChatGPT: Settings → Data controls → Export; Claude: Settings → Export data), download the file, and hand the file to the local tool.
